View of the Red Forest (Live at Woodshop Projects)

by Free Static

This is the live recording of the film score for "View of the Red Forest" - a short film by artist Julia Oldham, performed at Woodshop Projects in Corvallis, Oregon, on January 12th, 2019 as part of Julia Oldham‘s multimedia installation “View of the Red Forest”.

“View of the Red Forest” is a portrait of both the dilapidation and rebirth of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, combining large prints of windows looking out of abandoned buildings onto lush landscapes with video documentation of Oldham’s visit to the zone.

"View of the Red Forest" was filmed on location in Pripyat, Ukraine in the summer of 2018 as a companion project to Julia's short documentary "Fallout Dogs" - a film guided by the movements and activities of the stray dogs that live in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.
